The only Windows 7 area I can access is the public users folder (on C drive). I have set up the sharing on the Windows 7 machine with full access for everyone and even disabled the Windows 7 firewall. There you'll find  Shared folders of Windows 7. Ok, I can see the name of my workgroup it gave me an error saying that the network resource was unavailable so as far as i can tell the win 7 and xp computers are in the same workgroup conected That means I can apparently use either machine to see and work with the drives of the other machine, which is exactly what I wanted to do.

I tried to go into printer properties on both machines to add additional drivers, but cannot find drivers. but later when I could not print to the printer connected on XP machine which is connected with my lap through a Netgear router I noticed of missing the network.
