I battled with this for a couple of days while trying to install win7 on a new system with an ASUS Z170A. I find that peculiar, since I formatted both drives from the installer. It lost the connection, and became confused, don't know where to find the USB drive it used to read before. This definetly is the best solution. Ideas? The installation process will be like usual. Windows 7 install media doesn't have native support for USB3.0. When creating the bootable USB I originally used Rufus as advised by the Novatech staff which has different instructions for UEFI and BIOS setups (and I could not use the ISO So I clicked the X at the top and Yes to cancel the installation.

my dvd drive is not working. This is the solution. Basically what happened is that my DVD drive (F:) disappeared, and when I put in a DVD nothing happens. I have a P7P55 WS Supercomputer MB by ASUS.
When we re-insert the USB drive, Windows installer will detect the USB drive back, and continue like usual. Just turn of PC and turn back on, it will continue good. Had to make an account on this site just to say... My CD rom just disappeared on my computer and showed up in the device manage with a yellow exclaimation on it.
