Since this problem has happened before, I would try the drives in another PC and see if you can get them to recognize the drives. Have you tried adding it as a master on the secondary controller? I have kept this hard drive as slave in another pc and its also not showing. I had only 2 days ago updated the Bois.

  • I would think the Bios would show the new hard drive.
  • Look on the VAIO site for your model and see if they have any BIOS updates available, otherwise, you may need to figure out what motherboard and BIOS is currently installed
  • Boot manager was missing.

  • Take it to your local electronics shop and they'll give you a replacement (Radio Shack, Best Buy, etc….).
  • The main one, from 1998, works perfectly and almost silently.
  • It might see the second drive that Windows missed.

I see disk under Devices and Printers as USB to S-ATA now but everything is empty. Maybe someone else will have an idea that can help. After further troubleshooting, it turned out that the CMOS battery which came installed on the new P5LP-LE motherboard was bad which kept the BIOS "boot priority" set to the the "factory" As a last resort, you can try either manually typing in the cylinders, sectores, etc instead of having the BIOS auto detect it.
